The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is responsible for coordinating the List of Prohibited Substances and Methods, more commonly referred to as the List. The list identifies the substances and methods that are prohibited in- and out-of-competition for each sport.

Substances or methods are banned because they meet at least 2 of the following 3 criteria:

  1. They are performance enhancing,
  2. Harmful to health, and
  3. Against the spirit of sport.

Banned Drugs also include recreational drugs and athletes registered with the WADA testing pool can be tested for all prohibited substances anytime and anywhere.
